A statement issued by the University Teaching Hospital and shared by Information permanent secretary Thabo Kawana indicates that popular musician Wesley Chibambo, a.k.a Dandy Crazy, has died.
According to the statement, Dandy was certified dead at 01:42 hours this morning.
“Mr Chibambo who sustained multiple injuries in a road traffic accident, was admitted to the UTH-Adult in the early hours of yesterday. He underwent an emergency operation later in the day. However, he remained in a critical condition despite various treatment interventions employed by our health staff,” the statement issued by UTH public relations officer for the Adult Hospital, Nzeba Chanda, stated.
“We wish to pass our sincere condolences to the family and public as they mourn their loved one.”
Many Zambians online united to pray for Dandy’s quick recovery following an accident caused by a truck driver who turned himself in after earlier fleeing the accident scene.
Four others died on the spot, including a musician and a senior lecturer at Mulungushi University.
